The assignment of a single point of contact allows the organization to provide prompt legal assistance to survivors of sex trafficking in Florida, representatives explain. With this development, Abuse Guardian’s nationwide network of allied lawyers grows to 15 professionals.

Abuse Guardian cites Attorney Haggard’s 20-plus years of trial experience and his track record of winning multi-million dollar settlements as reasons for his selection as Florida’s dedicated legal advocate. Moreover, his membership with the National Crime Victim Bar grants him insight into the intricacies of handling sex trafficking cases.
A SIGNIFICANT CONCERN
Florida’s Human Trafficking Hotline has identified over 6,100 cases of human trafficking (including sex trafficking) since its inception in 2007. Contrary to what most believe, victims are rarely kidnapped and coerced — more often, they are manipulated and given false promises of financial rewards, as Attorney Haggard explains.
The lawyer adds that human trafficking — and sex trafficking in particular — is especially heinous because it often preys on the most vulnerable, including financially disadvantaged women. His goal is to bring perpetrators to justice, while also getting the highest possible compensation for survivors, giving them much-needed vindication and closure.
CREATING A SAFE SPACE
Knowing the stigma associated with sex trafficking, Attorney Haggard offers a safe space where victims can freely discuss their experiences without judgment. Furthermore, he can connect victims with organizations that provide crucial non-legal support, such as housing and psychological counseling.
REPORTING AND FILING A LAWSUIT
Following the preliminary consultation, Attorney Haggard can help clients report their cases to authorities such as the local police or the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Should plaintiffs decide to retain his services, he can represent them during court litigation or civil settlements.
IMMIGRATION RELIEF
Given Florida’s location, many sex trafficking victims are non-US citizens, adds Attorney Haggard. In such cases, he can help survivors acquire special visas that grant them temporary or permanent legal status in the country.
Attorney Haggard says: “Sex trafficking reduces people into mere objects or tools, which is why it is particularly heinous. Rest assured that you can rely on me and my team to help you secure the justice you deserve.”
